$10,000 Funding for Instrumental Music Program

P&C Funds $10,000 for New Instruments

At the final P&C Meeting for the year we were proud to approve funding of approximately $10,000 for the purchase of new instruments to further support the development of the Instrumental Music program at the school. This, and other funding projects, simply would not be possible without the amazing fundraising our community has supported throughout 2023.

These funds will allow for growth of the instrumental music program, and more equitable access to instruments for students from year 4 through to year 6. Reducing the burden for families who otherwise would need to make the choice of either not continuing with the program, or purchasing the instruments themselves.

These funds allocated will allow an additional 3 flutes, 4 clarinets, 1 alto-saxophone, 3 trumpets and 2 trombones to bolster the program into the future.

This recent P&C funding adds to the other significant projects we've supported throughout 2022 such as;

  • Over $6000 in support to establish the Games Reward room in the school

  • Funding free access to the Year 5 Leadership incursion day in Term 4

  • Establishing the School Garden project, composting program and fencing

  • School hall beautification with new flags, artwork and sports house banners (soon to be installed)

  • Additional funding to extend our School Chaplaincy program to 2 days per week

  • ... and other smaller funding projects throughout the year

Your P&C Association thank you for your continued support for our students and our school.

New Playground Fundraising Update

A major fundraising project over the last 2 years for the P&C has been aiming to support the purchase and installation of a new playground. This was first raised in 2021 and the P&C determined to make this large capital purchase a key focus for the fundraising for the year. At that time the focus was on a new Prep focussed play space, and designs were sought and agreed upon, quote were submitted and assessed.

Unfortunately, before the funding could be confirmed we found ourselves in late 2021 and all three playground quotes were subsequently reassessed due to supply and construction issues and the cheapest of the new quotes was over double the original price ($70K+).

As such, at the end of 2021 the P&C made a decision in consultation with the school to apply for the next ground of Gambling Community Benefit Fund Grants to seek 50% funds for the new playground.

We found out in May of 2022 that this application for the grant was not successful, so we took the plans back to the drawing board and in consultation with the school and teachers sought new ideas for the intended playground. In the meantime, we have also now received new quotes averaging over $120K!

Your P&C remains dedicated to supporting the new playground requests from the school community however this has become a much larger, and more drawn out process than originally intended so we thank you for your continued support.

We would love to welcome any interested members of our community to add their voice to the project as a key agenda item for the first general meeting of 2023 (Wed Feb 8th 2023 at 6pm).
